What affects the price of a repair
- Metal. Platinum and white gold take more time and care than yellow gold or silver. White gold often needs rhodium plating afterward.
- Condition and complexity. A clean break is a quick fix. A worn shank, several loose stones, or a delicate antique takes longer.
- Materials. If a repair needs added metal, a new clasp, or a replacement stone, those are charged in addition to labor.

Our 90-day repair warranty
Every repair we do is guaranteed for 90 days from the day the piece goes back to you. It applies whether or not you bought the piece from us, and there is nothing to register.
- What is covered: the exact work we performed. If the joint we soldered opens again, the prong we re-tipped fails, or the clasp we fitted stops closing, we fix it at no charge.
- What is not covered: new damage, a problem somewhere else on the piece, normal wear, a stone we did not set or tighten, and any work done by someone else after us.
- Finishes: polishing, plating, and rhodium are surface finishes that wear with daily use, so they are not covered by the warranty. We will tell you what to expect when we quote the job.
- How to use it: bring the piece back, or email info@chcfinejewelry.com with a photo and roughly when we did the work.
Full details are in our Jewelry Repair Terms. Jewelry we make ourselves carries a separate one-year warranty against manufacturing defects.

Jewelry repair questions
How much does jewelry repair cost?
Each service above shows its starting price. The final price depends on the metal, the condition of the piece, and the work involved, and we confirm it after we look at your jewelry. Starting prices cover labor. Added metal, stones, or parts are charged extra.
Do you offer a free evaluation?
Yes. Bring your piece in and we will assess it and explain what it needs, with no obligation.
How long will my repair take?
It depends on the repair. Some jobs are quick and others, such as stone work or restoration, take longer. We give you a time estimate when we assess your piece.
Can you size white gold and platinum rings?
Yes. Sizing in white gold or platinum starts at $110. White gold rings often look best with fresh rhodium plating after sizing, and we will tell you if your ring needs it when we quote the job.
Do you repair jewelry that was not bought from CHC?
Yes. We repair all types of jewelry in gold, silver, and platinum, whether or not you bought it from us, and the same 90-day repair warranty applies.
Do your repairs come with a warranty?
Yes. Repair work is guaranteed for 90 days from the day we return the piece to you. The warranty covers the exact work we performed, such as a joint we soldered, a prong we re-tipped, or a clasp we fitted. It does not cover new damage, a problem elsewhere on the piece, normal wear, or surface finishes such as polishing and plating, which wear with daily use. See our 90-day repair warranty for the details.
Do repairs come back in a gift box?
Repairs come back cleaned and protected in a pouch. The full presentation box with a cleaning cloth and Certificate of Authenticity is for jewelry you buy from us, but just ask and we will box your repair as a gift at no charge.
Can you engrave jewelry?
Yes. Engraving of initials or a short word starts at $20, and names, dates, and longer messages start at $40. We can also restore worn engraving.
Do you make custom jewelry too?
Yes. We design and make custom pieces from your idea, sketch, or photo. See our custom jewelry design page.
Where are you located?
We are in Midtown Manhattan at 34 W 46th St, Suite 403, New York, NY 10036. Please call or text before you visit.
Can I mail my jewelry for repair?
Yes. Email us photos first for a free evaluation, then send your piece with our Repair Intake Form. See mail-in jewelry repair for the steps.
Where can I read your full repair terms?
Everything about estimates, stones, mail-in repairs, pickup, unclaimed items, and the repair warranty is on our Jewelry Repair Terms page.
