About CHC Fine Jewelry

Four floors up, on West 46th Street, a block off the Diamond District, there is a workbench. Almost everything CHC Fine Jewelry sells was made at it.

That is the whole company, more or less. We are a family-owned jewelry studio and workshop in Midtown Manhattan. We are not a reseller and we do not drop-ship. We design jewelry, we make it by hand, and we repair jewelry that other people made.

Three initials, three people

CHC is three people, and all three touch your piece:

• Our bench jeweler has spent more than thirty years in gold, silver, and platinum. He can tell you what a repair needs by holding it up to the light.
• Our stone setter sets every diamond and gemstone that goes into a CHC piece, by hand.
• Our designer models in 3D and answers the email. So when you write to us about a custom piece, you are writing to the person who will build it.

What we make and fix

• Custom jewelry design. Bring an idea, a sketch, or a photo off your phone. We model it in 3D, you approve it, and we make it here. You can do the whole thing from anywhere without ever walking in.
• Handmade jewelry. Rings, chains, and pendants built entirely with hand tools at the bench, no CAD anywhere in the process.
• 3D CAD design. 
   If you only want the file, we deliver print-ready STL files, plus 3DM or ZTL depending on the software used, built for casting, and no jewelry at all.
• Jewelry repair. Sizing, chains and clasps, prong re-tipping, pearl restringing, rhodium plating, engraving, antique restoration. Prices are published so nobody has to guess.
• Bench services. Already have a piece cast or made? We clean it up, assemble it, set your stones, and give it the final finish.

What made to order actually means

We keep some pieces ready, and many are made when you order them. Either way, store pieces ship within 1 to 3 business days after your payment is confirmed. Custom pieces take longer: most are ready to ship in about 1 to 3 weeks after the design fee is paid, and complex or heavily stone-set work can take 4 weeks or more. You get a time estimate with your quote, before anything starts. Nothing custom is cast until you have seen review images of the 3D model and said yes. If you want to hold it first, a 3D-printed wax model is available for an additional fee.

What we will not do

• We will not set glass or plastic and call it a gemstone. Solid precious metal only, gold from 10k to 24k, sterling silver, and platinum.
• We will not call a lab-grown stone natural. We use both, we price them differently, and we tell you which is which before you pay. Every piece ships with a Certificate of Authenticity listing the metal and the stones.
• We will not start work before you know the cost. Repair evaluations are free and the quote comes first.
• We will not talk you into something bigger than what you walked in for.

Buying from us

• Free ground shipping on every U.S. order, insured, with tracking.
• Every piece you buy arrives gift-ready, in our box with a pouch, a cleaning cloth, and a Certificate of Authenticity. Repairs come back cleaned in a pouch, and we will box those as a gift too if you ask.
• 30 days for refunds and 60 for exchanges on store pieces.
  Custom and handmade work is final sale, which is exactly why you approve the design first.
• A one-year warranty on manufacturing defects, and 90 days on any repair we do. In the first 30 days we pay shipping both ways; after that, the warranty covers repair or replacement.
