What we can make for you
We design and make rings, pendants, necklaces, and bracelets in gold, platinum, and sterling silver, set with diamonds and other gemstones. Engraving and personalization can be added to your design. How custom jewelry design works
- ConsultationShare your ideas, inspiration photos, budget, and deadline. Meet with us at our Manhattan studio by appointment, or by video call.
- 3D CAD designWe build a detailed 3D CAD model and sketch of your piece. You review and approve the design before we move forward.
- Optional wax modelFor an additional fee, we can 3D-print a wax model of the approved design so you can check the size and proportions in person before casting.
- CastingOnce you approve the model, we cast your piece in the metal you chose, whether gold, platinum, or sterling silver.
- Setting and finishingStones are set, the piece is polished, and everything is inspected by hand before your jewelry ships, fully insured.

Who makes your jewelry
CHC Fine Jewelry is a family-owned studio and workshop in Midtown Manhattan. Our team brings more than 30 years of bench experience and does all the work in-house, from the design through the stone setting and the final finish. When you send an inquiry, you are speaking with the team that will actually make your piece.
What affects the price of custom jewelry
Every custom piece is priced for its own design. The main factors are:
- Metal and weight. Platinum and 18k gold cost more than 14k gold, and sterling silver is the most affordable option. Heavier designs use more metal.
- Stones. Type, size, quality, and number of stones all change the price.
- Design and labor. Intricate settings, fine detail, and hand finishing take more bench time.
Share your budget in your inquiry and we will suggest ways to get the look you want at a price that works. You receive a quote for your specific design, and the cost is confirmed with you before production begins.
How long does it take?
Most designs are ready to ship in about 1 to 3 weeks after the design fee is paid. Complex or stone-set pieces can take 4 weeks or more. Shipping time is extra. Your timeline is confirmed when we quote your project, so tell us early if you are working toward a birthday, anniversary, or wedding date.

Custom jewelry questions
How does the custom design process work?
You share your idea in a consultation. We then create a 3D CAD model for your approval, cast the piece in your chosen metal, and finish and set it by hand. You approve the design before we cast anything. An optional wax model is available for an additional fee.
How long does custom jewelry take?
Most designs are ready to ship in about 1 to 3 weeks after the design fee is paid. Complex or stone-set pieces can take 4 weeks or more. Shipping time is extra. We confirm your timeline when we quote your project.
Can I design my piece online?
Yes. Consultations can be 100% virtual by video call, phone, or email, so you can design your piece from home. If you are in New York, you can also meet us at our Manhattan studio by appointment.
What metals and stones can I choose from?
We work in 14k and 18k gold (white, yellow, and rose), platinum, and sterling silver, and set diamonds, sapphires, and a wide range of other gemstones. Tell us what you have in mind and we will advise on what works best for your design.
How much does a custom piece cost?
Price depends on the metal, the stones, and the complexity of the design. Send us your idea and budget through the form below and we will quote your specific design.
What should I include when I contact you?
The type of piece, sketches or inspiration photos, preferred metal and stones, ring or wrist size if you know it, your budget, and any date you need it by. You can email photos to info@chcfinejewelry.com after you submit the form.
Can I return or exchange a custom piece?
Custom-made items are final sale and cannot be returned or exchanged. You review and approve the 3D design before production so you know exactly what you are getting. Full details are in our Custom Design & Production Terms.
Can you make jewelry entirely by hand, without CAD?
Yes. Rings, chains, pendants, and more can be made entirely at our bench with hand tools. See our handmade jewelry page for how it works and what to expect.
Only need the 3D design file?
We also sell the CAD model on its own, with no finished piece. See our CAD design service for formats, turnaround, and what you receive.
Do you ship outside New York?
Yes. Because the whole process can be done online, we work with clients across the country and abroad. Finished pieces ship insured. See our shipping policy for details.
